Created in 1971 in Saint Tropez when photographer and journalist Fred Prysquel created a swimsuit from paper tablecloth. The suit was an instant hit owing to its unique design and its feature of being quick to dry. Today, the company offers a wide variety of styles.
The model called Moorea became a signature of the brand. The brand kept expanding and in 1994 included boys wear too. Vilebrequin infiltrated the global market with distributors in over 50 countries whereas stores were opened in European and American cities as well.
In 2012, an American company, G-III Apparel Group, acquired the brand and Roland Herlory became its CEO. In 2013, with four decades of living, the brand started offering resort wear for women. Till date, it has kept flourishing and adding value to itself.
